Two accused in the Golden Temple bomb threat case have been arrested from Tamil Nadu after days of search. According to the information, the arrest was made in Tamil Nadu. The Golden Temple has received five threatening emails since Monday, warning of potential RDX blasts, News 18 reported
In response, police, paramilitary forces, and task forces have been conducting continuous checks of the premises and surrounding areas. Following these threats, security measures were heightened within the complex. Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) also received similar threatening emails. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann cautioned the public against spreading rumours, assuring that his government will prioritise security and not compromise on it.
CM Mann had held a meeting in view of the threatening emails received by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), he also held a meeting with senior police officials, including Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. In a post on Twitter after the meeting, the chief minister said, "We will not allow any compromise on Punjab's security. Our security agencies and the Punjab Police are fully alert."
"I appeal to the people of Punjab to be cautious of rumours. All religious places are sacred and revered by us. We are fully committed to their security. Anti-national and anti-social forces will be dealt with strictly," he said.
A software engineer was rounded up from Faridabad in connection with the five e-mails sent to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) threatening to blow up the Golden Temple, officials said on Friday, news agency PTI reported.
Police said that Shubam Dubey (24) has been rounded up and is being questioned regarding the first threatening e-mail sent to the SGPC on July 14.
