Amid ongoing mystery surrounding the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a native of Indore, in Meghalaya, his wife and murder accused Sonam's brother Govind Raghuvanshi declined to speak on the matter on Monday, claiming that he grew 'emotional' while receiving her call and thereafter notified the police.
“When she called me, I got emotional, and later informed the police. Until I meet her (Sonam), I cannot say anything. For the last 72 hours, I have been awake. It’s been 20 days since I met her," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to authorities, Sonam Raghuvanshi is the main suspect in her husband's murder because she planned the crime with her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, while she and her husband were on a honeymoon. She was apprehended after being located in a dhaba on the main route between Varanasi and Ghazipur.
Sonam, Kushwaha, and three suspected hitmen, Akash, Vishal, and Anand, are among the five individuals who have been taken into custody.
Also, members of the Madhya Pradesh Police have been stationed outside Sonam's Indore home.
Siyaram Singh, SHO, Banganga Indore said, "Sonam (Raja’s wife) lives here. So people have gathered here, and security has been deployed as a precaution. We are not aware of the details of the case. Meghalaya Police is investigating the case."
Meghalaya Special Investigation Team (SIT) Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor said that deceased Raja Raghuvanshi had two head injuries, according to a post-mortem report. His decomposing remains were discovered in a gorge close to the scenic Weisawdong Falls.
