Renowned Bollywood actor Govinda made his political comeback on Thursday after joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in Mumbai after nearly a 14-year break. The actor made his political debut in 2004 after defeating senior BJP leader Ram Naik in the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat, contesting from Congress ticket. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde welcomed the ‘Raja Babu’ actor, saying he was a popular figure in all sections of society. “I am back (in politics) after a 14-year-long 'canvas' (exile),” Govinda said after joining the Shiv Sena.

“We have seen the same level of progress here (in Maharashtra) in the last two years, as we have seen in the country in the last 10 years. We will focus on the beautification of the state and the growth of art and culture,” Govinda said.

Govinda’s Net Worth 

Govinda who recently joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra, has a net worth of crores. Earlier in 2014, Govinda reportedly declared his total net worth of Rs 14 crore in an affidavit filed with the Election Commission on Myneta.info. According to media reports, Govinda’s net worth is around Rs 150 crores. In 2004, Govinda won the Lok Sabha elections after contesting from a Congress ticket.

The ‘Hero No. 1 actor, who has performed lead roles in several Bollywood movies reportedly earns Rs 12 crore annually. He reportedly charges Rs 5 to 6 crores for a movie. Govinda has left an indelible imprint on the minds of the audience through his movies. He has been recognised with several prominent awards including IIFA Awards, Filmfare Awards, Stardust Awards, Gold Awards, Screen Awards, and other crucial awards.
