The UP government has issued a public notice to shops in Greater Noida for allotting them significant platforms in the residential areas of the city. Eligible candidates may start to apply from April 20 to May 4.
Following verification, spaces will be allocated to individuals through a draw of lots. In March, 20 street vendors were allocated space in Alpha-2, Beta-2, and Sector-36. Under the new system, eligible landless laborers, disabled people, women, and Scheduled Castes from villages within the authority's notified area will be allocated space in the vending zones based on reservations.

The move is primarily initiated to address unauthorised occupying of areas across the lanes in residential sectors. A total of 769 platforms, or shops, have been built in sectors Alpha-2, Beta-1 and 2, Sector-36, Omicron-1 and 3, Ju-2 and 3, Gamma-2, Delta-1 and 3, and Pi-1 and 2.
What Shops Are To Be Included?
The state authority has now begun to allocate spaces. The spaces, reports say, will be allocated for a period of three years. The government plans to allocate the spaces for the selling of fruits, vegetable shops, and fast food corners as well as stationery with kiosks. Street vendors will be allotted one and a half to two meters of space.
The monthly rent will be Rs1,500, while four meters of space will be allocated for stationery, with a monthly rent of ₹5,000. Space will be earmarked for vending zones; a survey is underway.
“Once all the constructed vending platforms in a sector are operational, the area may be notified as a no-vending zone, keeping traffic management in mind,” she said.
Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar had handed over allotment letters to the first group of vendors in the presence of authority officials, including additional CEO Shrilakshmi VS.
