A 26-year-old man collapsed and died while practicing garba at a community hall in Surat. The victim, who has been identified as Raj Modi, was practicing traditional Garba dance at the community hall of the Surat Municipal Corporation in the city on Wednesday. While dancing, he abruptly complained of severe chest pain and collapsed while seated on a chair, said police.
The body was transferred to the New Civil Hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination, which was conducted the following day.
In a bid to further corroborate their findings, samples were diligently dispatched to the forensic laboratory for detailed analysis.
Raj Modi, the only child of his parents who had recently completed his Mechanical Engineering degree in Surat, was employed at a car showroom's service station.
He had plans to pursue further studies in London, scheduled for December.
Following the incident, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. According to the preliminary findings of the post-mortem examination, he may have suffered a heart attack.

Police went to the hospital to gather important information after learning about the incident. A who was part of the autopsy team said that a heart attack is suspected as the primary cause of death.
"We have taken additional precautions by sending specific samples to the FSL office for in-depth testing," he confirmed.
In another separate incident that took place in Gujarat's Jamnagar in September, a 19-year-old engineering student died of suspected cardiac arrest while playing garba.
According to Jamnagar police, the victim, Vinit Kunvariya, was a garba enthusiast who was practicing at a class in the Patel Park neighbourhood for a Navratri event when he fainted unexpectedly after finishing the first round. He was initially taken to a neighbouring private hospital, from where he was transferred to GG Hospital, where the medical staff proclaimed him dead on admission.
