Gujarat Weather: Gujarat is experiencing a much-needed relief from the summer heat as unseasonal rainfall and cool winds have brought comfort to several parts of the state. Many areas have already received light showers since Saturday night and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain in the coming days.
Gujarat Weather: Why is It Raining In Summer Season
An upper air cyclonic circulation has developed near the Gujarat coast at an altitude of 0.9 km above sea level. Due to this system, monsoon-like conditions have been created even during the peak summer season. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across multiple districts in Gujarat between May 5 and May 7.
Gujarat Weather: Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat To Witness Rain
According to the weather department, several regions including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot may experience rain accompanied by strong winds. Districts such as Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Dahod, Panchmahal and Chhota Udepur are also likely to be affected. In some areas, wind speeds may reach 50 to 60 km per hour.
Orange Alert Issued For Saurashtra-Kutch, North And Central Gujarat
An orange alert has been issued for North Gujarat, Central Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch regions due to expected heavy rainfall and high wind speeds. Specific districts like Kutch, Patan and Banaskantha could witness gusts of wind up to 80 km per hour.
Rain Likely In Morbi, Junagadh, Dwarka
The IMD has also forecast rain in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Bharuch and Narmada during this period. All districts in Saurashtra-Kutch—including Morbi, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka and Botad—are likely to receive showers.
Gujarat Temperature
This shift in weather conditions is also expected to bring down the maximum temperature by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in most parts of Gujarat over the next few days. In Ahmedabad and surrounding regions, the day temperature is expected to settle around 37 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Across western India, no significant change in temperature is expected over the next three days. However, by the end of the week, maximum temperatures may rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. Central and northwest India may also see a slight temperature increase after four days.
