The monsoon has made an early arrival in the country, bringing widespread rainfall to several states. The western regions, particularly Maharashtra, are experiencing intense downpours that have significantly disrupted daily life.
Gujarat has been witnessing continuous rain, lashing multiple areas. Authorities have issued alerts warning of further showers in the coming days, as monsoon is likely to hit the state in a week.
In the past 24 hours, over 37 talukas in the state have recorded rainfall ranging between 1 mm and 60 mm. Among the worst-affected areas is Mahuva taluka in Bhavnagar district, which saw the highest rainfall at 2.36 inches. Hansot witnessed 2.32 inches of rainfall, Netrang with 1.73 inches, Bharuch with 1.69 inches and Mangrol with 1.65 inches.
Heavy Rain Alert In Saurashtra and South Gujarat areas
The weather department has forecasted heavy downpour in areas, including Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi and Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli in South Gujarat and Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Diu in Saurashtra.
Other areas, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar as well as Vadodara, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Dwarka, Botad and Kutch in North Gujarat, are likely to witness normal rainfall.
Navsari and Valsad districts have been witnessing light to moderate rainfall since morning.
The summer season is also set to depart from the state, as monsoon is about to make its way in less than a week. People are getting respite from the scorching heat.
