A woman in Gujarat’s Botad district was booked for allegedly abetting her husband’s suicide, citing mental harassment and frequent disputes as reasons for the incident. The deceased, identified as Suresh Sathadiya (39), was found hanging in his home in Zamrala village on December 30, leaving behind a video blaming his wife, police said on Saturday.

In the video, Sathadiya urged his family to "teach his wife a lesson for causing his death," according to an official from Botad rural police station. Acting on a complaint from Sathadiya’s father, the police registered a first information report (FIR) against the wife, Jayaben, on Friday.

The FIR alleges that Jayaben mentally harassed Sathadiya by frequently quarrelling with him and repeatedly leaving their marital home to stay with her parents. Prior to his death, Sathadiya had visited his in-laws’ house to convince his wife to return, but she refused. Upon returning home, he recorded the video and took his life.

A case has been registered under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further investigations are underway, police added.
