On Thursday, Russia dismissed the United States' allegations implicating Indian officials in the conspiracy to assassinate Khalistani separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, stating that Washington hadn’t provided any ‘credible information’ or ‘evidence’ to substantiate its claim. Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said the US was trying to ‘unbalance’ the political situation in India in a bid to affect the ongoing Lok Sabha election.

“Washington lacks a simple understanding of India's national mentality and history, as America continues to make unfounded accusations about religious freedoms. Washington's actions clearly constitute interference in India's internal affairs…As for speculations, since there is no evidence, it is not acceptable…They are not respecting India as a state,” Zakharova said.

Jaiswal said that a high-level Committee set up by the Indian government was carrying out an investigation into the security concerns shared by the US government on networks of organized criminals, terrorists, and others.
