Gurugram Water Supply Cut: Several areas of Gurugram are expected to face an obstructed water supply on April 7 and April 8 due to the connection of the newly built water treatment plant (WTP). The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has scheduled a 30-hour shutdown as it is necessary to connect the new WTP at Chandu Budhera to the existing pipeline network.

The supply will be completely halted for 30 hours as the process to connect the 100 mld water treatment plant with the existing one will take around 30 hours. According to GMDA officials, work is already underway to install the new pipelines.

“It is informed that the work of connection of additional 100mld WTP Phase-IV to the existing 1600mm diameter pipeline at WTP Chandu Budhera by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will start from 11 am on 7th April and is likely to be completed by 5 pm on 8th April, due to which water supply will be completely stopped for 30 hours,” a statement issued by GMDA said on Wednesday.

These Areas Will Be Affected

The shutdown will mainly impact Old Gurugram and several sectors across the city. Water supply will remain cut off for approximately 30 hours in areas including Sectors 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 12, as well as Sectors 81 to 115. Other affected locations include Dayanand Colony, Old Gurugram, Laxman Vihar, and Choti Mata Boosting Station, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

The new water treatment plant at Chandu Budhera will increase the treatment capacity of the plant to 370mld instead of the current 260mld, while the authority treats another 300mld at its plant in Basai.
