Gurugram Rainfall: Pre-monsoon showers hit Gurugram over the weekend causing widespread chaos, leaving multiple residential societies flooded. The waterlogging also led to traffic snarls in several areas. Gurugram on Saturday night recorded 74mm of rainfall, according to data from district administration. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, uprooted trees, damaged infrastructure, exposing the civic facilities. Gurugram’s air quality index (AQI) stood at 123 (moderate) on Sunday, compared to 143 on Saturday, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Gurugram also saw a 7 degrees Celsius drop in maximum temperature on Sunday, settling at 30 degrees Celsius, down from 37.1 degrees Celsius the previous day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Roads remained submerged in water for hours in many low-lying areas of new and old Gurugram, including Narsinghpur village, both sides of the service lane of the expressway, Medanta underpass, Sector-10, Sector 10A market, Hero Honda Chowk, Sector-9A, Dharampur, Kataria market, New Colony, Sector 5, Dundahera, Sheetla Mata Mandir, Basai, Sushant Lok, Feroze Gandhi Colony, Fazilpur, Rezangla Road, Badshahpur, Sector 15, Sector 31, Chowma Phatak, Patel Nagar, Housing Board Colony, Surat Nagar, Laxman Vihar, jagran.com reported.

Municipal Corporation Gurugram received information about trees falling due to storms at 34 places. These include South City-2, Sector-57, Sector-48, Sector-47, Near Salwan Public School Sector-15 Part-1, Near House Number 1424 Sector-21, Pocket-E Park Sector-21, Sector-23 Market Road, Sector-23 Market, Sector-23A Park-1, Sector-23A Park-2, Bus Stand Road, Near Session House, House Number 2308 E Block Palam Vihar, House Number 2066 D Block Palam Vihar, House Number 1423 Sector-15 Part-2, Market Road Sector-40, Sector-31/40 Dividing Road, Sector-9/9A Dividing Road, Neelkanth Road Sector-4, House Number 1165 Sector-9A, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, RD City, Sushant Lok-3, Sushant Lok-1, Sector-55 and Sector-56.

IMD stated that Delhi-NCR is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Monday. It further stated that there is a possibility of dust storms and light rain in several regions due to the effect of western disturbance. The weather department stated that the residents of the national capital are also expected to witness gusty winds and thunderstorms for the next few days. It also clarified that the rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to three degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat.
