Gurugram Weather: Various parts of Gurugram were found waterlogged after heavy rain and thunderstorms battered Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) early on Friday. Number of videos were shared on social media, showing extent of waterlogging in Delhi and neighbouring areas including Gurugram.

Taking to X, a user posted a video of waterlogging, inquiring why there is no GST charged as the region has become a water park. An X user @Sydusm wrote, “Few hours of rain and Gurgaon turns into a waterpark. Wonder why they don’t charge GST on it,” and posted a video along.

Another X handle @Hmm_India held concerned authorities accountable, saying ‘waterlogging in Gurgaon is loss to Human Resource’.

A severe thunderstorm swept through the national capital in the early hours, triggering widespread waterlogging, traffic disruption, and even fatalities. Four people lost their lives and one person was injured after a tree collapsed on a tubewell room in a farm in Kharkhari village of Dwarka.

The weather chaos caused by the thunderstorm and rain early morning affected flight operations as a few flights were diverted to Ahmedabad and Jaipur, while nearly 20 were delayed. Later, operation at Delhi airport was normalised as weather conditions improved.

“The adverse weather conditions in the city led to delays in both arriving and departing flights. Moreover, three flights had to be diverted”, the HT quoted an airport official as saying.
A western disturbance is expected to bring down temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius in Gurugram. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for dust storms, thunderstorms and scattered showers across the city, until May 6.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 km/h, continuing through May 8. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 34°C and 40°C.
