On January 31, the Varanasi district court allowed the Hindu side to offer prayers in the southern cellar of Gyanvapi mosque. The court also directed the Varanasi district magistrate to make arrangements within seven days for 'puja' to be performed by the Hindu side and a pujari (priest) nominated by Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust.
Opposing the 'puja' in Vyas Ji Ka Tehkana, Anjuman Intezamia headed to the High Court and sought a stay on the Varanasi court order. Meanwhile, the petitioner and Hindu devotees demanded to install bell and other puja materials in the Vyas Ji ka Tehkhana following the order of the Varanasi court on Gyanvapi Mosque.

Rekha Pathak, a petitioner in the Gyanvapi Shringaar Gauri case told ANI that they will get the required permission to install the bell at the puja area."Symbols of 'Damru' and 'Trishul' have been found which shows that all the evidence is of our Lord Shiva. Therefore, we planned to install a bell in the 'Tehkhana' in which the puja has started. We are following the law only. We will get permission because it is a part of the puja," she said.
