Gyanvapi Mosque Survey: Allahabad High Court on Thursday allowed the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey of the masjid complex in Varanasi. This came a day after the court asked the ASI to not start the survey of Gyanvapi mosque as the hearing on the matter was underway.
"Issue of a commission is permissible. The Varanasi Court was justified in ordering for ASI survey of the premises. A scientific survey is necessary in the interest of justice, " said the bench of Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker while dismissing the plea, Live Law reported.
Soon after the court's verdict, Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side in the case, said, "Allahabad HC has said that ASI survey of Gyanvapi mosque complex to start. Sessions court order upheld by HC."
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya welcome the court's verdict in the Gyanvapi mosque case and said he is confident that truth will prevail.
"I welcome this verdict. I am confident that the truth will come out after the ASI survey and the Gyanvapi issue will be resolved," Maurya told ANI.

The court delivered the verdict by dismissing the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee's plea, challenging the ASI survey of the mosque complex, adjacent to Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. On July 21, Varanasi district judge AK Vishvesha ordered the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi complex on an application moved by four Hindu women on May 16, 2023.
Senior advocate Harishankar Jain also responded to the judgment delivered by the Allahabad High Court and said there are numerous pieces of evidence which prove that it was a Hindu temple before.
"There are numerous pieces of evidence present there that say that it was a Hindu temple. ASI survey will bring out the facts. I am sure that the original 'shivling' has been hidden below the main dome there. To hide this truth, they (the Muslim side) are objecting repeatedly. They know that after this it won't remain a mosque and the way will be clear for the construction of a grand temple there," he told ANI.
