A deeply disturbing case has emerged from the Kankhal area of Haridwar, where a 60-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter. The case came to light after the girl’s health deteriorated following the administration of abortion pills.

As the investigation started, it was also revealed that the victim had previously been sexually assaulted multiple times by her boyfriend, resulting in two earlier pregnancies and forced abortions. Both the father and the boyfriend have been arrested and sent to judicial custody after being presented in court.

According to a report by Jagran.com, the case was brought to police attention on October 7 when the victim’s elder sister approached Kankhal police station. She reported that her younger sister had been hospitalized after her condition worsened on Tuesday. Doctors at the hospital confirmed that the girl had been given abortion medication, and due to the seriousness of her condition, she was referred to a higher medical facility in Dehradun.

Once stabilized, the minor revealed the harrowing details to investigators alleging that her own father had raped her, and upon discovering her pregnancy, forced her to take abortion pills to terminate it.

Minor Reveals 'Third' Abortion

The girl further disclosed that this was her third abortion. The previous two pregnancies, she said, were the result of repeated sexual assault by her boyfriend, identified as Priyansh, a resident of Sannyasiyon Wala, Jaspur, in Udham Singh Nagar district. On both occasions, she was forced into taking abortion pills.

Following orders from SSP Pramendra Dobal, a case was swiftly registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act. Under the supervision of Acting Station In-Charge Nitin Chauhan, both the father and Priyansh were arrested within hours on Thursday.

Father Exploited His Daughter’s Relationship

SP City Pankaj Gairola revealed that Priyansh had been working as a laborer alongside the victim’s father for several years and lived in the same neighborhood. The father was aware of the romantic relationship between his daughter and Priyansh and also knew about her previous pregnancies.

Rather than reporting the matter or protecting his daughter, the father allegedly used the situation to his advantage and sexually assaulted her himself, a revelation that has shocked the local community.

According to police officials, the family initially tried to suppress the matter and discouraged the victim’s elder sister from pursuing legal action. However, police proceeded with the investigation and arrests without delay.

Both accused have now been sent to judicial custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
