Despite the government imposing a ban on firecrackers, people in Delhi-NCR continued to burst firecrackers. In one infamous incident that took place on Diwali, an elderly man was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana's Faridabad after he objected to people bursting firecrackers in his locality. A case has also been filed based on a complaint by the victim's son.
According to the complaint, Vinod, the complainant, mentioned that three men—Raju, Dheeraj, and Nandu—were setting off firecrackers in front of his home in the Housing Board Colony of Faridabad's Sector 18 on Thursday evening. When his fataher protested, a heated argument broke out, according to Vinod.
While Vinod managed to control the situation at the time when the argument happened, the three men came back and again started bursting firecrackers in front of their house, stated Vinod in the complaint.
As they continued bursting crackers, Vinod's father came out of the house and objected to it. This infuriated the accused, who beat up the man. came back and again started bursting firecrackers in front of their house.

According to police cited by PTI, the father of Vinod succumbed to his injuries on the spot. A search to nab the accused is currently on.
Chandigarh: 21 Firecracker Injuries Reported Across City
At least 21 people, mostly children, reported to an advanced eye care centre for burn injuries received in accidents caused while bursting Diwali firecrackers.
Six of them needed surgery and all have been operated upon, a statement issued by Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh said here on Friday.

The UP 112 emergency service received over one lakh emergency calls on Diwali, according to official figures accessed by PTI.
Of these, 51,796 were 'events' requiring Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) for assistance. Within these events, 41,066 involved police assistance, 1,974 were related to fire incidents and 7,147 were for medical emergencies.
