Haryana’s father-son duo-- Bhupinder Hooda and Deepender Hooda-- on Saturday made their first public appearance after facing massive defeat at the hands of BJP in assembly polls. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda attended a Ramleela event in Hisar, while Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda was part of similar festivities in Jhajjar.

Deepender described the election results as 'unexpected', adding that the issue of EVM glitch was flagged before the Election Commission. "We are analysing the results and have submitted our concerns to the Election Commission. We are awaiting a response," he stated.

Meanwhile, at the Ramleela stage organised by Shri Ramleela Committee Katla in the old Government College, Hisar, Bhupinder Singh Hooda refrained from commenting on the election results. Instead, he participated in the symbolic burning of Ravana’s effigy by shooting an arrow with a bow. Newly elected MLA Savitri Jindal was also present on the stage alongside him.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda conveyed the message of the triumph of good over evil by aiming the arrow at Ravana’s effigy.

Independent MLA from Hisar, Savitri Jindal, who extended her support to the BJP, assured the residents of her constituency that development would be her priority in the area. “The doors of Jindal House will always be open for the people of Hisar. The city has not witnessed significant progress in the last 10 years, but we will ensure rapid development, just like in earlier times,” she said.

In an interaction with the media, Deepender Hooda reiterated claims made by his father Bhupinder Singh Hooda, stating that complaints about EVMs had emerged from nearly 20 assembly constituencies. "We have presented our case before the Election Commission. Despite the deceitful tactics of the BJP, Congress managed to secure the same vote percentage as the BJP," he asserted.

"We will fulfil our role in the democratic process. The responsibility that the people have entrusted to us will be honoured, and we will continue to raise the voice of the people of Haryana," he added.

The Congress party garnered 37 of 90 seats in Haryana, much less than pollsters and psephologists predicted, amid a decade-long anti-incumbency and agrarian distress in the state. Defying all the conjectures, the BJP accumulated 48 seats to form a majority government.
