Haryana IPS Officer Death: Following a complaint from Anmeet P Kumar, IAS officer and wife of the late Haryana Additional Director General of Police Y Puran Kumar, a case has been registered against Haryana’s Director General of Police Shatrujeet Singh Kapur and Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya.
In the complaint, the wife has accused the officers of abetting her husband’s suicide, India Today quoted the SSP of Chandigarh as saying. The case has been registered at Sector 11 Police Station in Chandigarh under the sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3(1)(r) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
The case was registered following a complaint on Wednesday under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to abetment of suicide, alongside provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Haryana IPS Officer Shot Himself With Service Revolver
Earlier, on Tuesday, ADGP Y Puran Kumar allegedly shot himself in the head with his service revolver while being seated on a chair at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh. During the investigation, police found a “will” and a suicide note, in which the officer underlined job-related issues and dissatisfaction.
The officiating DGP was expected to be announced later on Thursday amid increasing pressure from the state administration to respond to the explosive allegations detailed in Kumar’s nine-page suicide note. However, no official announcement has been made yet.

Rahul Gandhi Alleges Case-Based Discrimination
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reacted to the death of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, alleging case-based discrimination behind his death and calling the officer’s ‘suicide’ a symbol of the ‘deepening social poison.’
“The suicide of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar is a symbol of the deepening social poison that is crushing humanity in the name of caste,” Gandhi wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

He asserted that the IPS officer had to face “humiliation and oppression” due to his caste. “When an IPS officer has to endure humiliation and oppression because of his caste — imagine the circumstances in which an ordinary Dalit citizen must be living,” he added.
