Haryana News: 34-year-old Poonam, who is accused of a series of child murders, was arrested in Haryana's Panipat on Tuesday. Her husband Naveen, has now filed a murder case against her at the Baroda police station.

According to police, Poonam has confessed that she felt compelled to kill children she considered “more attractive” than her own. Poonam murdered her own son out of fear that he had witnessed one of her previous killings. The other victims, children of her relatives, had their deaths mistaken for accidents.

How Poonam Won The Hearts Of Children

Poonam had a unique way of connecting with children. Using gestures of kindness and attention, she gradually earned their trust. She would offer treats, take them on playful walks, and even join them in dancing. Her warmth and affection made the children feel safe.

Murders During Dashami, Ekadashi

According to jagran.com, Poonam killed all four children by carefully observing the auspicious times of Dashami and Ekadashi. This pattern indicates that the murders may have been linked to some tantric ritual.

Her first crime occurred on January 12, 2023, when she killed her son Shubham and niece Ishika. On that day, Dashami was ongoing in the morning, and Ekadashi began at 4:49 pm, the timeframe in which both children were killed.

On August 18, 2025, she murdered her niece Jiya in her maternal village of Siwah. Ekadashi that day began at 5:22 pm and continued until 3:32 pm on August 19. Later, on December 1, 2025, Poonam killed her niece Vidhi in Panipat. The Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha had started at 9:29 pm on November 30 and ended at 7:01 pm on December 1.

The timing of all four murders suggests that Poonam was following rituals, possibly under the guidance of a Tantrik.
