School-going students from economically weaker family backgrounds in Haryana can get access to free education in private schools under the Chief Minister's Equal Education Relief, Assistance and Grant Scheme (Cheerag). Under the scheme, more than 34,000 children from poor families will be able to study in private schools. The 700 recognized private schools have cleared 34,271 vacancies from fifth to twelfth class.

Who can apply under Cheerag scheme?

Under the CHEERAG scheme, children from families with an annual income of less than Rs 1.80 lakh will get admission. The families of these children will not have to pay any fees and the government will directly reimburse the fees to the school.

Last date to apply, other processes

Complete information about class-wise seats in private schools is available on the departmental website and portal. Parents and students can apply till March 31.

If a school receives more applications than the available seats, then children will get admission through a draw between April 1 and 5. All schools will have to complete the admission process by April 15. The list of successful students will be displayed on the school's notice board.

Waiting list to be prepared

If the selected students do not take admission within the stipulated time, then students from the waiting list will be given admission in their place from 16 to 30 April. To conduct the admission process transparently and smoothly, the District Elementary Education Officer will appoint departmental nominees in the respective schools.

The Block Education Officer, Principal, Headmaster, PGT or other teacher of the government school will be nominated as the nominee.

Students can apply in more than one school

It is necessary to have a family identity card for admission. Only those students will be eligible who have studied in a government school in the previous academic session. Application can be made only for the seats available in the recognised private schools of the current block.

However, candidates can apply to more than one school. It will be mandatory to get a receipt from the schools applied for. It will be mandatory for the successful students to bring the school living certificate from the previous government school. Only after this will they be able to get the benefit. For this, you can apply till the end of this month i.e. March 31.
