Haryana Roadways unions have announced a two-day bus strike on September 5 and 6, pressing the state government to address their long-standing demands. Following a meeting of 13 unions at the Nathusari Chaupata bus stand, representatives announced a symbolic demonstration at all roadways depots on August 26th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., during which they will submit a memorandum of demands to their general managers.
What Are The Demands?
The spokesperson stated that roadway employees have long-standing demands, which the government and the Transport Department have repeatedly postponed. The employees demanded an increase in their conductor pay grade and three pay increases, similar to those provided to clerks.
The members of the Union demanded that new recruitments should be made for vacant driver and conductor positions. A policy should be established to provide promotions within a set timeframe. Drivers should be given higher pay grades, and a separate position of stand-in charge should be created to promote drivers.
