Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. As per the weather department, rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in several northern states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The rainfall has brought relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius.

As per the weather department, the national capital will continue to receive rainfall at least until June 19. Along with Delhi, several nearby cities such as Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida are also likely to witness similar weather conditions. While the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be calculated at 39 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 32 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for several districts of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala until June 19. "Isolated thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) likely over Himachal Pradesh and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during 13th-14th June; Uttarakhand during 13th-15th June," the IMD said in its advisory on X (formerly Twitter).

"Fairly Widespread to Widespread rainfall likely over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe during 13th-19th June," the weather department added. The weather department has predicted light rain and strong winds of up to 60 to 70 kilometers per hour in several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. However, it further warned that severe heat is likely to persist in approximately 50 districts and heat waves are probable in more than two dozen districts from Monday.

The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rainfall to avoid any inconveniences.
