Ahead of his swearing-in as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand, JMM leader Hemant Soren on Thursday said that the unity of the people in the state is their greatest strength. He emphasized that the people of Jharkhand cannot be "divided or silenced," reiterating his commitment to serving the state with a united vision.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter,  Soren said, “Let there be no doubt about it - our unity is our biggest weapon. We can neither be divided nor silenced. Whenever they push us back, we move forward.”

In a veiled dig at the BJP, Soren said that whenever "they try to silence us", the revolution grows louder. “Whenever they try to silence us, our voice of rebellion, revolution grows louder because we are Jharkhandis, and Jharkhandis do not bow down,” he said.

Hemant Soren Oath Ceremony

JMM leader Hemant Soren will be sworn in as the chief minister of the state at a ceremony at Morabadi Ground. The event will be attended by prominent leaders,  including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Soren described the oath-taking day as a ‘historic moment’, honouring the collective struggle of the Jharkhandi people for justice and the ‘abua’ (self-governance) government they have chosen. He emphasized that this day carries forward the legacy of revolutionaries like Birsa Munda and Amar Shaheed.

“Today is not about political victory, today is the day to reiterate our struggle for social justice, the daily battle to strengthen social unity. Today also tells us that the great people of Jharkhand are standing together amidst the increasing pressure on democracy,” Soren said. He concluded by signing off, "Your Hemant."

This marks Soren's fourth term as Chief Minister of Jharkhand, following his victory from the Barhait constituency where he defeated the BJP's Gamliyel Hembrom by a margin of 39,791 votes in the recent assembly elections. In the newly concluded Jharkhand Assembly polls, Soren's alliance, led by the JMM, secured 56 out of 81 seats, while the BJP-led NDA managed to win just 24 seats.
