Henley Passport Index 2025: India's passport fell to 85th rank in the latest report of the Henley Passport Index (HPI), published on Wednesday. The report suggests that India has visa-free access to 57 countries; however, Indians had access to 59 countries in the 2024 report. A strong passport reflects diplomatic strength and international business ties, leading to access to a greater number of countries. In the Asia-dominated list, Singapore has reclaimed its position as the world's strongest passport, offering visa-free access to 195 countries in the latest ranking. Afghanistan continues to have the world’s weakest passport, with visa-free access to 24 countries.

Henley Passport Index: India's Rank

India's passport ranking has slipped to 85th in comparison to 80th in last year's report. The changes in ranking are reflected by the policies (internal) and ties with other countries in the last 12 months. While India achieved its highest ranking of 71 in 2006, its ranking dipped to the lowest in 2021 to 90. Indian citizens currently have free-visa access to 57 countries, better than several developing countries in the Middle East and Africa.
