A 69-year-old man and his grandson were killed after being struck by lightning in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, officials said. The man was identified as Thakur Das who was grazing goats along with his 19-year-old grandson Ankit in Rakh village near Palampur when the incident took place, they said.
One of their relatives Sanjay Kumar who was also with them survived the natural calamity and reported the incident. Officials said that the authorities have deployed a team to retrieve the bodies and rescue any remaining individuals.

In another incident, over 60 sheep were reported to have died due to a lightning strike in Mahal Chakban Dhar, a part of the Dharamsala sub-division.
A team from the Animal Department was sent to the region by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dharamshala Dharmesh Ramotra to assess and address the situation.
Meanhwile, a 12-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad after being struck by lightning on Friday, officials said. The girl, native of Makhanpur village, named Ajmerul died on the spot when a tree she was standing under was struck by lightning, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vinay Kumar Singh said.

Several parts of Uttar Pradesh received intermittent spells of rain accompanied by gusty winds and lightning throughout the day.
