Himachal Pradesh: Residents of Himachal Pradesh will now have to pay taxes according to how many toilet seats they have in their homes. A notice in this respect was recently released by the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu administration, which is currently dealing with a financial crisis in the state.
The government announcement connected to the sewerage and water bill specifies that a cost of Rs 25 has to be paid for every toilet seat placed in the houses of individuals living in urban areas. This extra cost will be credited to the Jal Shakti Department's account together with the sewage bill.
Thirty percent of the water payment will go toward the sewage fee, according to the government statement. A monthly fee of Rs 25 per toilet seat is required from those who use their own water supply and solely utilise the government department's sewerage connection. To this effect, all divisional officials have received directives from the department.

In Himachal Pradesh, water bills were not previously issued. The BJP administration has declared that free water will be supplied if it comes to power in the state. But now, the Sukhu administration in Himachal Pradesh has mandated that each connection get a monthly water charge of Rs 100. This began in October.
Those residing in metropolitan areas are anticipated to bear the brunt of these increased government taxes. This is due to the fact that individuals typically build many bathrooms in their homes, and each toilet seat will now have a cost.
With 5 municipal corporations, 29 municipalities, and 17 Nagar Panchayats, Himachal Pradesh is home to almost 10 lakh people. Hence the new government order is projected to effect a significant population in the state.
