Officials in Una, Himachal Pradesh, said on Saturday that strict actions will be taken against the people involved in child begging. The decision was taken ahead of the Navratri fairs at Chintpurni which will start from October 15 and will continue till October 23.

The Sub-divisional Magistrate (Amb), Vivek Mahajan, said the nexus involved in child begging becomes highly active and operates on a large scale during such fairs.

The fairs will be parted in four areas and approximately 350 personnel from Himachal Pradesh police and home guards will be deployed to ensure peace and security in the area, he added.

The department for water, Jal Shakti, has been advised to provide clean drinking water for devotees who will be visiting the fair. Kiosks will also be installed at four places in the fair to provide clean drinking water. Each sector would have sanitation supervisors on duty to ensure sanitation and hygiene.The Electricity Department was also directed to fix any issues with the system surrounding the shrine and make sure of  a constant electricity supply. The Chintpurni shrine's fire station was asked to ensure proper functioning of vehicles and machinery.

Darshan slips will be provided to devotees at Mai Das Sadan, Shambhu Barrier along with other places. Permission will be required to set up any langar stall, Mahajan added.
