As rains continue to batter Himachal Pradesh, a chilling visual has surfaced online showing multiple vehicles being swept away as a part of dam collapsed in Kullu district.
A cofferdam, part of the Malana-I Hydropower Project, collapsed in flash floods triggered by the continuous rains, which led to a surge in water levels, eventually sweeping away the vehicles.
The vehicles and machinery that were swept away included a rock breaker, a dumper truck, a hydra crane, and a camper.

However, reports suggest that there were no casualties in the horrific incident. The southwest monsoon has brought havoc to the state this year. As many as 173 people have lost their lives to rain-related disasters such as landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts along with road accidents.
Moreover, the road infrastructure has also been crippled by the incessant rainfall. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), as of 10:00 am on August 2, 383 roads remain blocked.
Due to landslide and the subsequent accumulation of debris, major routes, including NH-305, NH-505, NH-21, and NH-03, remained disrupted. Interior roads in Kullu, Mandi, Una and Chamba remain inaccessible.
Apart from that, 747 distribution transformers (DTRs) are disrupted, leaving several areas without a proper power supply. 249 water supply schemes are also down due to rain-triggered damage.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also made sharp remarks about the ecological imbalance in the state due to climate change.
The court highlighted that the nature is not alone responsible for the disasters and that cautioned that the entire state may "vanish in thin air" if the situation does not change.
