As many as 52 people have so far been killed in rain-related incidents amid monsoon havoc in Himachal Pradesh. Mandi is among the worst-hit districts that suffered significant losses due to flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts.
28 people were killed in accidents, including electrocution, snake bites and falls from steep terrain, as per the State Disaster Management Authority. Rescue teams haven’t yet been able to ascertain the whereabouts of over 53 persons who had gone missing after the flash floods in Mandi.

The SDMA teams also conducted a comprehensive survey to ascertain the loss of properties in the calamity. 320 houses were completely destroyed while 38 were partially damaged.
Additionally, 10,254 livestock and poultry have perished. Besides, massive damage to crops, roads, bridges and power infrastructure was reported, especially in Mandi, Kullu, Kangra and Shimla.
This monsoon has seen 23 flash floods, 19 cloudbursts and 16 landslides across Himachal, the SDMA said.
Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday chaired a high-level meeting with the SDMA to discuss rescue efforts amid the grim situation in the state.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall on Tuesday in Una, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur. Mostly sunny weather with some light cloud cover is expected in other areas. Heavy rainfall is also forecast for July 9 and 10.

As of now, 235 roads in the state remain closed. Rescue efforts have intensified after the weather showed signs of improvement.
