State Bureau, Shimla: While the peaks of Lahaul-Spiti experienced light snowfall on Wednesday, Manali experienced heavy rain. Shimla was overcast and experienced drizzle in the afternoon. Due to rain and snowfall, the weather in Himachal Pradesh remained pleasant in the first week of June, although humidity remained high in the lower areas.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast that a western disturbance will remain active in the state until June 9. On June 4, winds of 40 to 50 kilometre per hour are expected in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur. For Thursday, Chamba has been put on a yellow alert for rain and lightning.

A yellow alert for thunder and lightning has been issued for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur on June 5. On June 6, Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu districts are likely to experience rain and strong winds.
Hailstorms and windstorms can damage apple, cherry, plum, tomato, and capsicum crops. The IMD has advised people to stay away from tall trees and tin sheds while working in the fields.
On Wednesday, Rohru received the highest rainfall in 24 hours. During the last 24 hours, Rohru recorded the highest rainfall of 30 mm.
Rajgarh received 20 millimeters of rain, Manali, Murari Devi, and Rajgarh received six millimetre each, and Jogindernagar received five millimetre. Lightning struck Shimla, Kangra, and Murari Devi, and thunderstorms swept through Tabo and Sundernagar.

Monsoon In India Today
The IMD has stated that the monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala and Tamil Nadu on Thursday, June 4. The weather department expects significant changes in the weather conditions across most states in the coming days. As per the advisory, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines to avoid inconveniences.
