Heavy rains drenched several parts of Himachal Pradesh, leading to chaos and significant damage in Shimla, Solan and Mandi. Roads, rail and air services have also been affected due to the excessive rains. A four-storey building collapsed due to heavy downpour early Monday morning in Shimla.  

As many as three people have died in rain-linked incidents in the past 24 hours, taking the monsoon-related death toll in the state to 20, as per Hindustan Times. 

A woman got stuck under the debris along with her daughter in their house in Shimla on Saturday night. They were later rescued after being trapped for over three hours.

A tree fell down in Panthagarhi, which damaged four vehicles.

The Chandigarh-Shimla four-lane highway was closed near Chakki Mor at around 7 am on Sunday due the deposition of debris on the road. One lane was restored for vehicular movement after removing the debris.

A culvert was washed away near Kiratpur on the Barotiwala-Bagguwala road and Pinjore-Nalagarh National Highway. Due to slow drainage in Mandi’s Dharampur, water stagnated in the lake, leading to a sharp spike in its level.

Several families vacated their homes after five houses collapsed in Sanyard ward of Mandi.

Pathankot-Chamba-Bharmaur NH remained closed for about five and a half hours in Naini Khad area of Chamba. At a distance of two kilometers from Naini Khad, at a sharp turn in front of Kali Mata temple, tons of garbage came on NH from the drain. A truck got stuck in the debris. Due to this the road remained closed till 2.30 in the night. Five houses, three cowsheds and one shop have been damaged in the state due to rain.

As many as 129 roads have been closed across the state due to landslides. 57 roads are closed in Sirmaur, 44 in Mandi, 19 in Kullu, four in Una and one in Lahaul-Spiti.

Power supply is disrupted in several areas due to failure of 612 transformers in the state. 340 transformers are damaged in Mandi, 140 in Lahaul Spiti, 92 in Solan, 33 in Hamirpur, seven in Kullu.

Kalka-Shimla railway line remained disrupted for six hours due to heavy rain on Sunday morning. The track was blocked due to landslides and falling trees. Himachal Express coming from Delhi reached Una on Sunday morning at 7:47 am with a delay of one hour and 12 minutes from the scheduled time.

Due to unfavourable weather, two out of five flights were cancelled at Kangra airport in Gaggal on Sunday. Air services were disrupted in several other areas as well.

Schools and colleges will remain shut on Monday in Kangra and Mandi amid IMD alert for heavy showers.
