In a deeply disturbing case from Madhya Pradesh, a man has been accused of forcing his male friend to undergo sex reassignment surgery without his consent, sexually assaulting him afterward, and later blackmailing him for Rs 10 lakh. The shocking incident, reported from Bhopal, has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about medical abuse and consent.
As reported by NDTV, the case originated in Bhopal, where a 27-year-old man befriended another man named Shubham. The two developed a close bond and eventually moved in together in a rented flat. Over time, Shubham allegedly began expressing unwanted sexual interest in his friend.
A few months ago, Shubham took the victim to a private hospital under the guise of treating recurring headaches. Without the victim’s knowledge, he was allegedly given hormone therapy disguised as medication. The complainant said he began noticing physical changes within a month, which left him frightened and confused.
In his police complaint, the victim stated that he began noticing physical changes in his body within a month, which left him confused and scared. Before he could fully understand what was happening, Shubham allegedly took him to Indore and, without his informed consent, got him operated on for a sex reassignment surgery. The medical procedure, which forcibly altered his gender, reportedly cost Rs 5 lakh.
After the forced operation, Shubham allegedly sexually assaulted the victim. Adding to the horror, the victim claims Shubham began extorting him, demanding Rs 10 lakh and threatening to destroy his life if he didn’t comply.
Once the matter came to light, the police in Bhopal registered a zero FIR against the accused. The case is now being transferred to Narmadapuram district, where the actual offence is said to have occurred.
As of now, no arrests have been made. Police officials have confirmed that further investigation is underway and that they are in the process of gathering more medical records and taking additional statements to support the case.
