Hyderabad Flood News: Several localities in Hyderabad have been placed under flood alert as the gates of the water reservoirs Himayatsagar, Osmansagar are likely to be opened after they reach full tank capacity, The Siasat Daily reported. Areas around the Musi River have been placed under alert.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has warned residents of potential flooding and has alerted concerned departments to take precautionary measures to ensure the least possible damage, as per Siasat Daily.
People living in low-lying areas have been asked to vacate their homes and shift to temporary arrangements made at community centres and marriage halls. Authorities have also warned residents in flood-prone zones such as Chaderghat, Jiyaguda 100 Feet Road, Attapur, Nagole, and Moosarambagh, which are typically affected when large volumes of water are released from the reservoirs.
As per a senior official of the revenue department, the situation will be monitored closely with assistance from the police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and Disaster Response Force (DRF), a media report added.
He further urged residents to stay in temporary shelters until official clearance is provided to move back to their respective homes.

The state government has announced the Musi River development plan to avoid inundation of nearby residential and commercial areas. The project is currently in its early stages. When floodgates are opened, the entire width of the Musi River is submerged in water.
