Hyderabad has been reeling under an unrelenting heatwave with the temperatures in the city rising over 40 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, temperatures in many locations in Hyderabad surpassed 40 degrees Celsius, leaving locals panting for air. Nearby districts including Nalgonda also witnessed scorching heat on Thursday with temperatures reaching 45.9 degrees Celsius.
The city's maximum temperature was recorded in Khairatabad at 41.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Kukatpally at 41.2 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, as many as 16 areas in the city witnessed extreme heat conditions. The weather department has also predicted intense heat for the next six days in Hyderabad and adjoining districts.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Low-level north-westerly winds dominate the state, resulting in dry weather. The state will see dry weather for the next five days, the IMD said.
Maximum temperatures would likely be over 41 degrees Celsius in the northern, eastern, and north-eastern districts for the next five days, according to K Nagarathna, the director of IMD-Hyderabad. The IMD anticipates heat waves in the upcoming days due to the rising temperatures.
The greatest maximum temperature was 43.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday in Nalgonda, according to the IMD. Khammam and the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district both registered 43.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD, the monsoon's arrival over Kerala's coast would be three days later than usual. The southwest monsoon is predicted to arrive across Kerala on June 4 rather than June 1. As a result, Telangana's monsoon season will undoubtedly start later than usual.
