About the time when PM Modi was receiving the Highest Honor of Kuwait ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’ by Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, an IAS officer was making India proud on another international stage.

Representing the nation with remarkable poise and intellect, IAS Sonal Goel was effectively presenting India’s perspectives at a high-profile international conference in Oman.

Hosted by the prestigious Gulf Skill Pioneers in collaboration with the International Institute of Influencers, the event, attended by over 300 global influencers, leaders including senior Ministers of the Sultanate of Oman, policymakers, and academics, revolved around the theme of ‘Sustainability in Human Capital and Global Leadership.’

At the event, the 2008 batch Tripura cadre IAS officer was also honored with the prestigious D-20 Leader of Influence and Changemaker Award. This recognition celebrated her impactful contributions to global leadership and policymaking. Speaking about the award, Sonal Goel, IAS remarked that, “it was a nice experience, reinforcing the shared responsibility of leaders worldwide in shaping a sustainable and equitable future.”

During her address, the senior bureaucrat emphasized the transformative potential of human capital as the cornerstone of sustainable development. Drawing examples from initiatives like India's ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ and Oman’s investments in STEM education, she highlighted how education and skill-building can empower societies to achieve long-term resilience.

Her speech also underscored the importance of inclusion, gender equity, and emotional intelligence in shaping compassionate and effective leaders.

A social media icon Sonal Goel, IAS also participated in a dynamic panel discussion, exploring collaborative pathways for global challenges such as climate change and inequality. She shared insights on leveraging partnerships like the India-Oman collaboration in renewable energy to promote sustainability and drive technological innovation.

This event not only reinforced the shared vision between India and Oman but also provided a platform to advocate for people-centric policies and sustainable practices. The officer’s participation was lauded as a testament to India's unwavering dedication to fostering global unity and shared progress.
