Weather Update:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the weather condition in several states is expected to change in the next few days. It added that many of the northern states are likely to receive light to heavy rain in this period of time. The hilly regions of the country are also expected to receive a fresh spell of snowfall, leading to a further dip in the temperature.
The weather department stated that Delhi-NCR is likely to receive light rainfall in the upcoming 2-3 days. The region is likely to continue its combat with dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day. The dense fog has led to lowered visibility, causing a problem for travelers and daily commuters.
Several of the flights and trains from Delhi got delayed in the past week due to the dense fog. However, it has not affected the temperature of the region as Delhiites continue to enjoy sunlight in the daytime. While the minimum temperature in Delhi on Saturday was 10.2 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature remained at around 26 to 27 degrees Celsius.
The IMD stated that though the temperature in Uttar Pradesh has significantly increased over the past few days, the weather is likely to change in the upcoming days. The weather department has issued an alert for rain in the next few days in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The fresh spell of rain is also likely to cause a dip in the temperature in these regions. A western disturbance is likely to have its impact on Uttar Pradesh for the next 5 days, causing light to heavy rainfall. Apart from this, the western region of the state is likely to receive heavy rainfall on January 3 and 4.
The weather department clarified that states like Haryana and Punjab are also expected to experience similar weather conditions in the upcoming days. Apart from this, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to receive a fresh spell of snowfall in the upcoming days.
