Temperatures across many parts of India have already crossed 35 degrees Celsius in early March, signalling the onset of intense heat. In Rajasthan’s Akola, the mercury climbed to 40.8 degrees Celsius, while residents in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are also grappling with unusually high temperatures.

However, some relief is expected in the coming days. Due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, light rain and snow are expected in the hilly regions between March 8 and March 12, which could help ease the heat.

Delhi Records Hottest Day Of Season

Residents of the national capital experienced the hottest day of the season on Friday, as the temperature soared to 34.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, 3.6 degrees above normal.

IMD has issued a heatwave alert for Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh for Sunday.

A heatwave alert has also been issued for Akola of Rajasthan, Amravati, Wardha in Maharashtra and Solan, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra of Himachal.

Where Will It Rain?

Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may experience rain and snowfall over the next 3-4 days. In the Kashmir Valley, light snowfall may occur in some areas of Kupwara, Ganderbal, Bandipora, and Anantnag.

Rain is also expected in Sikkim, Odisha, and Kerala, while people in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh can expect some relief from the heat.
