Congress’s failure in resurrecting itself in the Delhi Assembly Election has created new fissures in the already-faltering INDIA bloc. Adding to this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ruled out Trinamool Congress' (TMC) alliance with the grand-old party for the 2026 assembly election. INDIA bloc allies, however, suggested the TMC supremo to “continue to have dialogue” with the Congress.

Mamata Banerjee made the announcement on Monday and blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress for the failure of the Opposition in Delhi and Haryana assembly election. CM Banerjee also told her legislators and ministers that the TMC will win the 2026 poll on its own with a two-third majority in the 294-seat state assembly.

Delhi Elction 2025 Result

The results of the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections were announced on Saturday, February 8, confirming a significant victory for the BJP, which secured 48 seats in the city. AAP was ousted from power after 10 years as the Arvind Kejriwal-led team could manage to win only 22 seats — its lowest performance ever. The only party which performed consistently was the Indian National Congress, which failed to open its account for a third consecutive Delhi Assembly Elections. The INDIA bloc allies' decision to fight the elections separately further derailed AAP's campaign in the national capital.
