Lucknow News: Day flights from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport may be suspended from next month in view of recarpeting of the runway scheduled from March 1. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is likley to give approval for the same. The airport is likely to be closed from 10 am to 6 pm from March 1 to July 15 for modernization and repair work of the airport runway.

According to the airport spokesperson, 132 aircrafts will be able to land and take off from the airport before 10 am and after 6 pm. Aviation companies have also been informed in this regard and their consent has been taken. Airlines are preparing to reschedule the flights that will be affected between 10 am and 6 pm, jagran.com reported.

Final Stage Of Approval Process

The process of getting approval from DGCA is in the final stage. In view of the airport administration's plan, many airlines have changed their summer schedule. Flights during the day hours are not visible on the booking platform.

About The Runway

- The length of the existing runway at the airport is 2,744 metres and the width is 45 metres. A taxi-way will also be built parallel to the runway.

- The airfield ground lighting (AGL) will be upgraded. This will replace halogen with LEDs. Airfield signage will also be updated, which will reduce power consumption by 50 per cent.
