India debunked Pakistan’s claims of destroying an Indian Brigade Headquarters in retaliation to 'Operation Sindoor' conducted by the Indian Armed Forces against terrorist hideouts in early hours on May 7. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check has clarified that this information is fake.
According to sources quoted by news agency ANI, four targets were located inside the undisputed Pakistan, in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot. The other five were in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
"Social media posts falsely claimed that Pakistan destroyed Indian Brigade Headquarters. This claim is #FAKE. Please avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information," the PIB fact check said.
Operation Sindoor
The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force worked together in Operation Sindoor and special precision weapons were used to target the hideouts of terrorists. News agency ANI, quoting sources, reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi monitored the situation throughout the night. The attacks were aimed at locations linked to top leaders of terrorist groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), who have been accused of planning terror attacks in India, according to officials.

Muridke, located a short distance from Lahore, is home to a sprawling "markaz" or base of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Bahawalpur is the main stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The other targets -- Kotli and Muzaffarabad -- are regions in PoK where both LeT and JeM have for long had camps and training facilities.
The Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the targets were terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK, which have been used to plan attacks against India. "Our actions have been focused and limited. No Pakistani military base was targeted. India has shown restraint in both the choice of targets and how the operation was carried out," it said.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced that a press briefing on Operation Sindoor will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Further details regarding the operation are expected to be shared during the briefing.
