- MEA reiterated treaty remains suspended until Pakistan ends terror.
- MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed India's position.
India on Friday responded to Pakistan's remarks on the suspended Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), reiterating that India's position remains unchanged. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the treaty will remain in abeyance until Pakistan takes credible and irreversible steps to end its support for cross-border terrorism.
Indus Waters Treaty To Remain Suspended
During a weekly press briefing, Jaiswal stated that the treaty “stands in abeyance” in response to Pakistan’s continued sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. He said, "India's position on the Indus Water Treaty is consistent. The IWT stands in abeyance in response to Pakistan's continued sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. Pakistan must credibly and irrevocably abjure its support for cross-border terrorism."

Pakistan's Empty Threat
India’s response came after Pakistan, on June 30, once again issued a warning to India amid ongoing tensions over the suspension of the IWT. The remarks were made by Pakistan’s Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik, who said Islamabad would firmly respond to any attempt to block its share of river water.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Malik accused India of trying to control Pakistan's water supply. Referring to statements made by Indian political leaders, Malik said, “There is a tap being controlled by the prime minister of a neighbouring country. He says he will not let even a drop of water flow into Pakistan.”
Strengthening his attacks further, Malik added, “We will cut off those hands who lay claim to our share of water." His comments were reported by Pakistani broadcaster 24NewsHD and several other media outlets. While video clips of his remarks have also appeared online, their authenticity could not be independently verified.
