In a sharp response, India has slammed Pakistan for its remarks on the Dhwajarohan ceremony at Ayodhya's Ram Temple. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has asserted that Pakistan should not be talking about the minority rights, given its history of violation of democratic values. It further suggested the neighbouring nation to introspect on its own history which is full of oppression against the minorities. The remarks came a day after Islamabad claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in the ceremony was a message to the minorities.

"We have seen the reported remarks and reject them with the contempt they deserve. As a country with a deeply stained record of bigotry, repression, and systemic mistreatment of its minorities, Pakistan has no moral standing to lecture others, the MEA spokesperson said while briefing. He further reminded Pakistan of its own history of violation of human rights, further suggesting Islamabad to introspect on them.

"Rather than delivering hypocritical homilies, Pakistan would do better to turn its gaze inwards and focus on its own abysmal human rights record," he added. Earlier on Tuesday, while reacting to the Dhwajarohan ceremony, Pakistan stated that the Indian government was trying to erode Muslim cultural and religious heritage.

"This reflected a broader pattern of pressure on religious minorities in India and deliberate attempts at eroding Muslim cultural and religious heritage under the influence of majoritarian Hindutva ideology,” Pakistan claimed in its statement. “Numerous other historic mosques now face similar threats of desecration or demolition, while Indian Muslims continue to experience growing social, economic, and political marginalisation,” it added.

Earlier in October, India slammed Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the ongoing oppression against the minorities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasised on the importance of culture and heritage in his speech during the event.
