Pune Metro Expansion: Pune Metro is set for significant expansion under Phase 2, with the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approving an extension worth Rs 9,857.85 crore.

The second phase includes the approval of Line 4 (Kharadi-Hadapsar-Swargate-Khadakwasla) and Line 4A (Nal Stop-Warje-Manik Bagh), following the previous approval of Lines 2A (Vanaz-Chandani Chowk) and 2B (Ramwadi-Vagholi/Vitthalwadi).

Pune Metro Expansion: Key Expansion, Check Full Routes

The extension will add 31.636 kilometers to the Pune Metro network, with 28 elevated stations. Lines 4 and 4A will connect key areas in East, South, and West Pune, including IT hubs, commercial zones, educational institutions, and residential areas. The project will be funded by the Government of India, the Maharashtra Government, and international funding agencies.

The new lines are designed to integrate seamlessly with existing and approved metro corridors. Key interchange points will include Kharadi Bypass on Line 2, Nal Stop on Line 2, and Swargate on Line 1. The project will also connect with Hadapsar Railway Station, enhancing multimodal connectivity between the metro and rail systems.

These routes have been carefully planned to address traffic congestion, passing through busy areas like Solapur Road, Sinhagad Road, and the Mumbai-Bangalore Highway. With this expansion, Pune's metro network will surpass 100 kilometers in total length.
