A proposed underwater rail link between India and Dubai can reduce the travel time to 2 hours. The plan proposed by the UAE’s National Advisor Bureau Limited estimates that the high-speed train to run at speeds between 600 km/h and 1,000 km/h, significantly reducing travel time and improving connectivity. The proposed train will run between Mumbai and Dubai.
Currently, air is the only travel medium between India and Dubai, however new project aims to offer an alternative to air travel while also facilitating the transport of goods, including crude oil, between India and the UAE.
A YouTube account, claiming to represent National Advisor Bureau Limited, has shared a video showing how the underwater rail system will look after the completion of construction, Economic Times reported. The video further illustrates the anticipated thrilling travel experience as passengers will be able to experience the underwater world. The proposed project is generating significant interest. The initiative is seen as a move to enhance trade relations between India and the UAE by providing a faster and more sustainable transport option. The high-speed rail is expected to compete with air travel by offering a convenient alternative for both passengers and cargo.
The track will cover a distance of approximately 1,200 miles (around 2,000 kilometers) under the sea in just 2 hours with a maximum speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour.
According to a report by Economic Times, the project was proposed some years ago and there has not been any update regarding the same.
