India vs Pak: The Indian men's cricket team refused to accept their trophies and medals after defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup final in a nail-biting contest. The players celebrated their victory without any trophy or medals, a rare sight after winning any tournament. While reading a statement from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), presenter Simon Doull informed that the Indian team will not be receiving the award on Sunday. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell chief Amit Malviya, while providing details, stated that players refused to accept the medals as they were being presented by ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Malviya stated that the players refused to take the awards even after Naqvi insisted them. “India refused to accept the Asia Cup and medals because Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Interior Minister of Pakistan, insisted on presenting them,” Malvuya stated in his post. “We not only slammed Pakistan on the field but also put Naqvi in his place,” he added.

A massive controversy sparked after the game as the presentation ceremony got delayed by about an hour after the Pakistan team refused to step out of the dressing room after their third straight defeat against the archrivals. Apart from this, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia upheld the team's decision, explaining that India couldn't take the trophy from someone "who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan."

"We have decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan," Saikia told a select group of news agencies at the board headquarters in Mumbai, as quoted by PTI.
