Weather Update: Winter conditions across north India continue to intensify with a persistent temperature drop and dense fog. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for the next few days.

Plains Turn Colder Than Delhi

The minimum temperature in the plains like Delhi and Chandigarh has dipped more than in hilly areas like Shimla. The IMD, in its forecast on Monday, anticipated a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius in Shimla, but for Delhi, this temperature for predicted to be 3-4.2 degrees Celsius on Monday, while the maximum temperature might hover between 18-20 degrees Celsius.

Gurugram Breaks 60-Year Record

Gurugram experienced a minimum temperature of 0.6 degrees Celsius, breaking a record of 60 years. The automatic weather station recorded a minimum temperature of 0.6 degrees.

India Weather Forecast: Very Dense Fog In Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Others

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its all-India weather forecast, released on Monday evening, predicted dense to very dense fog in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till January 14.

Dense to very dense fog is expected in West Uttar Pradesh till 19th and East Uttar Pradesh during 17th and 19th.

Cold To Severe Cold Day Likely In Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Others

According to IMD weather forecast, cold to severe cold days are expected in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on January 12 and 13. A similar situation is expected in parts of West Rajasthan on Monday, and in isolated parts of Uttarakhand on January 12, 13.

Cold Wave Conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Odisha and Jharkhand are expected to experience similar conditions during 13-15th January and 13-16th January.
