The Indian Railway Board has issued a strict warning to all railway zones across the country giving a clear instruction to those making reels or videos on rail tracks. The board, in the official statement, said that if anyone is found making dangerous reels or performing stunts that threaten the safety of train operations, they will face legal consequences. This includes filing a First Information Report (FIR) against those creating or sharing videos that compromise the safety of passengers, railway staff, or the integrity of train operations.

Why the Crackdown?

The directive comes after a series of shocking incidents involving people, mostly youngsters, filming dangerous stunts on or near railway tracks and posting on social media. Some individuals have even placed objects on tracks or taken selfies close to moving trains, which poses a significant risk to their own lives and the safety of others. In one tragic case, a person was killed while attempting to take a selfie on the tracks, only to be struck by an oncoming train.

A senior official from the Railway Board expressed concern, stating, “People are going too far in making reels. Not only are they putting their own lives in danger, but they are also endangering the lives of hundreds of passengers by performing stunts or making dangerous moves on moving trains.”

The Railway Board has made it clear that such actions will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken to ensure public safety. He added, "Several videos have circulated in which people went close to trains to take selfies, leading to their deaths. Many have died on the spot after being hit by trains."

People who make reels on railway tracks and moving trains should be cautious. If these activities create a safety risk, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed.

Zero-Tolerance Policy for Safety Violations

As part of this new directive, Indian Railways have asked the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to any such safety violations.

If individuals are caught performing dangerous acts or causing disruptions in the railway system for the sake of social media content, they will face legal repercussions including filing of an FIR, which could lead to criminal charges for endangering lives and violating safety norms.

In short, the Indian Railway Board's latest directive sends a clear message: social media stunts at the cost of public safety will no longer be tolerated. By adopting strict measures against unsafe behavior and advancing safety technologies like Kavach 4.0, Indian Railways is making significant strides toward ensuring the safety of both passengers and railway operations.

Introducing Kavach 4.0

In a related move, Indian Railways is taking significant steps to improve passenger safety with the introduction of the Kavach 4.0 system, which is an advanced automatic train protection technology. The Railway Ministry is fast-tracking its installation across the network to ensure safer train travel. The Kavach 4.0 system will be deployed across 10,000 locomotives and over 14,375 route kilometres (RKM) of tracks to establish passenger safety.

This initiative is in line with the Railway Board's broader goal to improve train safety and efficiency. As the Kavach system continues to roll out, it is expected to make train travel safer for millions of passengers across India.
