Features of Chennai's First AC EMU Train:
Chennai's first air-conditioned EMU train is set to introduce a range of advanced features to enhance passenger comfort and safety. One of the key highlights of the AC EMU is its energy-efficient Electro-Pneumatic Braking System, which integrates both electrical and pneumatic components to effectively control the application of compressed air to brake cylinders.
Unlike conventional rakes, this AC EMU boasts a durable stainless steel body, which contributes to its sleek design and strength, while also featuring automatic doors for added convenience.
The train will feature comfortable three-seater configurations, along with LED displays for real-time information. A public announcement system will keep passengers informed throughout the journey, and CCTV cameras will be installed to enhance security.
Each doorway will be equipped with a passenger talk-back system, similar to that found in Metro Rail coaches. This addition, coupled with CCTV surveillance, addresses safety concerns, especially in light of the recent disturbing incident in Vellore, where a pregnant woman was pushed off a train.
