Radico Khaitan's single malt Rampur Asava, an Indian whisky, has secured the prestigious title of 'Best World Whisky' in the 2023 edition of the John Barleycorn Awards. Competing against various scotch, American, and Irish whiskies, Rampur Asava emerged victorious in the blind-tasting competition judged by Barleycorn Society members, including Clay Risen, Wayne Curtis, Zach Johnston, Susan Reigler, and John McCarthy.

Matured in a distillery established in 1943 in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, the Indian Single Malt Whisky Asava undergoes a unique maturation process. Initially aged in American Bourbon barrels, it is meticulously finished in Indian Cabernet Sauvignon casks, resulting in a distinctive expression characterised by an impeccable balance.

The whisky boasts typical tropical fruity notes of Rampur, complemented by apricot, blackberry, plum, and a subtle hint of tobacco and spices. The palate offers a velvety experience with manuka honey sweetness, highlighted by spicy oak, vanilla, and a touch of dryness from Indian red wine.

Available in Duty-Free for Rs 9,390, Rampur Asava's finish is marked by an Indian trail that lingers with a medium and tantalizingly long-lasting generosity.

The John Barleycorn Society's blind-tasting competition is a renowned international spirits event held annually in the United States. The competition judges excellence in the spirits industry, covering various categories such as taste, marketing, package design, public relations, journalism, social media, event production, filmmaking, and bar design.

The recognition of Rampur Asava and other Indian whiskies in international competitions defines the growing prominence of Indian brands in the global spirits market. Brands like Amrut, Paul John, and Radico Khaitan's Rampur and Indri are gaining traction internationally, reflecting an overall growth of approximately 23 per cent in 2023.
