“My name is Upasita Kale, and I am sending this video to Praful Garg. I request the Indian embassy to please help us. All those who can help us, please help. I am stranded here in Pokhara, Nepal. I had come here to host a volleyball league, and currently, the hotel where I was staying has been burned down. All my luggage, all my belongings, were in my room, and the entire hotel was set on fire. I was in the spa, and people were running behind me with very large sticks, and I barely managed to escape with my life,” the Indian woman claimed in the video.

“The situation here is very bad. Fires are being set on roads everywhere. They are not sparing tourists here. They don't care if someone is a tourist or if someone has come here for work. They are setting fires everywhere without thinking, and the situation has become very, very bad here. We don't know how long we will stay in another hotel. But I just request the Indian embassy that please, this video, this message, should be delivered to them. With folded hands, I request all of you, please help us. There are many people with me here, and we are all stranded here,” she added.

Nepal Gen Z Protests

The protests, led by youth groups under the Gen Z movement, have escalated dramatically in recent days. The demonstrations, which erupted in response to alleged government corruption and a controversial social media ban, have resulted in widespread violence.

On Monday alone, at least 19 protesters were killed and around 500 were injured during clashes with police near the Federal Parliament and other parts of Kathmandu, according to The Himalayan Times. Several government buildings, including the parliament, were reportedly set on fire by demonstrators.

Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned amid the intensifying unrest, as the government struggles to contain the protests sweeping across the capital and nearby towns.

MEA Issues Advisory

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday issued a fresh advisory for Indian citizens in Nepal as the Himalayan nation plunged into political crisis following Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli’s resignation amid violent anti-government protests.

The MEA has urged Indian nationals to defer all non-essential travel to Nepal until the situation stabilises. For those already residing in Nepal, the advisory calls for staying indoors, avoiding movement on streets, and following safety instructions issued by local authorities and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

The Embassy has also set up dedicated helplines for assistance:
